Why It’s Time to Re-Evaluate SafetyCulture (Mitti)
If you evaluated SafetyCulture in the past and decided it was simply an inspection app that didn’t fit your business, it is time for a second look. Over recent years, SafetyCulture (now known as Mitti) has evolved from a simple inspection tool into a comprehensive, mobile-first risk management and operational platform.

Onboarding & Training Pathways
Rolling out new policies or compliance procedures across dispersed teams is traditionally difficult. It’s particularly difficult when you train a group of people only to have a new-starter a week later. Mitti now includes training pathways and micro-learning capabilities allowing new-starters to quickly catch up with the latest training. You can deploy short training modules directly to staff mobile devices based on roles or locations. You can verify their understanding of the training with quick quizzes, and track training compliance in real time—drastically simplifying worker training and onboarding. The training module also offers AI generated training, narration capability and a very wide range of presentation, quiz and game formats to keep users engaged.
Risk Assessment & Immediate Hazard Action
Moving beyond standard static checklists, the platform now provides dynamic risk assessment capabilities. Workers on-site can perform quick hazard checks, conduct instant Risk Assessments, attach photos, and assign corrective tasks to specific team members. Tasks can be set with deadlines, ensuring hazards never become incidents.
Beyond Tick and Flick
SafetyCulture may have historically been considered one of those ‘tick and flick’ compliance tools. But Mitti, now with complex inspection logic available it means you can simplify inspections where there’s little to report and force more detailed responses and escalation when there are issues. And inspections are soon to have AI support – AI will potentially determine an inspection question response from a photograph.
Complete Asset & Equipment Management
Managing machinery, vehicles, and tools no longer requires separate tools. Mitti provides complete digital asset registers that link maintenance history directly to inspection reports. You can set time-based or usage-based maintenance schedules. You can track asset condition over time and immediately flag equipment as “out of service” where checks identify defects. Asset location tracking is also possible.
Real-Time IoT Monitoring
One of the most significant platform expansions is the integration of wireless IoT sensors. Whether monitoring temperature-sensitive cold storage, humidity levels in warehouses, or noise levels on worksites, these automated sensors continuously log data and trigger instant SMS or app alerts the moment conditions breach safe thresholds—preventing stock loss or asset damage automatically.
Lone Worker Protections
For teams operating in isolated environments or remote sites, built-in lone worker protections provide peace of mind. Features include location sharing during active shifts, automated check-in timers, escalation workflows if a check-in is missed, and support for wearable Bluetooth panic buttons that trigger immediate emergency alerts.
Centralised Document Library
Serving as a single source of truth, Mitti enables teams to be able to access crucial operational documents—such as Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), standard operating procedures, or safety data sheets (SDS). Staff on the ground have instant, offline access to the latest verified versions directly from their smartphones or tablets.
Dashboard Analysis
Rather than juggling data for reporting, Mitti now allows you to create and share dashboards. The dashboards offer ‘drill-down’ functionality, so that you can quickly spot problems and home in on their source. You can also download the raw data that makes up any dashboard chart. Dashboards are completely customisable so that you can create the reports that you need and share them with who needs to see them.
Heads Up
Mitti includes a communication tool that is surprisingly powerful. It’s not just a notification tool broadcasting messages to users, but a far more powerful, yet simple tool that has a range of uses. Heads Up’s have an optional acknowledgement feature (which is equivalent to obtaining the recipient’s signature). The tool natively records statistics about who has read and acknowledged messages. There’s also a nice chat feature which allows public conversations to occur around the message content. For these reasons it’s great for meeting your consultation obligations, because the message, the discussion and the statistics are all retained as proof in the tool.
How we can help
